July Product News: Introducing Insights and Ask Butlr
Category
This July marks one of the biggest updates to the Butlr platform yet. Insights and Ask Butlr bring analytics and AI directly into your dashboard, Smart Cleaning turns occupancy data into operational action, and Connect is now live for every customer.
Your dashboard has always shown you what's happening in your spaces. Insights takes the next step: turning anonymous occupancy data into decisions your whole team can act on, self-serve, without waiting on anyone.
Portfolio Explorer, live in August. The trusted place to browse your portfolio. Navigate the full hierarchy, from building, floor, room, and zone. Pick a scope and time range and metrics populate automatically across five tabs: Occupancy and Utilization, Time Used, Traffic, Dwell and Visits, and Saturation. More than 60 ready-made widgets mean there's no setup and no data modeling. We’re excited to introduce a full portfolio view later this year.
Use Case Analyzer, live in August. Alongside Portfolio Explorer, we're introducing a drag and drop builder for custom analytical views. Build the views you and your team rely on most, then save them so they're ready whenever you want to dive back into the data.
Ask Butlr, beta in August. Ask Butlr is your AI occupancy analyst, powered by Claude. Ask a question in plain language, like "which floors are underused on Fridays?", and get a structured answer with key metrics and recommendations on where to look next. It behaves like an analyst, not a black box: you see the numbers behind every answer, and you stay in control of the conclusions.
Early preview. This release also includes a preview of Custom Reports, presentation-ready reports for sharing findings with stakeholders. Explore them and tell us what you think.
Insights is included in your existing platform. It's not a new product and not an add-on, it's your dashboard, reworked. And it's built on the same privacy-first foundation as everything Butlr makes: anonymous by design, no cameras, no biometrics, no PII.

Cleaning schedules assume every space is used the same way every day. Your buildings know better. Smart Cleaning, our new module launching this month, turns real space usage into cleaning priorities.
The result: cleaner spaces where it matters, less wasted effort where it doesn't. Contact your account team or learn more about Smart Cleaning.
Connect went live for every customer on July 1. It's your single home for getting data out of Butlr and alerts to the right people:
The redesigned interface puts Alerts front and center and makes data access easier to manage. Full details are in the release notes in our Learning Center.
Disruptive Technologies sensors in the Butlr platform. Building on our partnership with Disruptive Technologies, DT desk, motion, proximity, tactile, and door and window sensors can now be placed and managed in Studio alongside Butlr Heatic sensors, each with its own icon, on one floor plan. Historical dashboards fully support floors using third-party sensors, and door, window, and proximity activity is available through the Reporting API. Mix sensing technologies per space, thermal for rooms, desk sensors for workstations, door sensors for meeting rooms, and see everything in one place.
Faster, more reliable historical data. We rebuilt the data engine behind your dashboards. Historical views load dramatically faster, especially over long date ranges, and heavy queries no longer slow anything else down. The dashboard also opens about 5 seconds faster. The rollout reaches all accounts this month.
Everyday improvements. Space Usage Overview coloring now stays accurate when toggling Rooms and Zones layers. Access permissions follow a most-specific-wins rule, so granular view-only settings are always respected. In Studio, you can right-click a floor plan to lock it or replace its image, rotation is preserved through edits, and a Safari zoom misalignment is fixed.
